| On 8th December 1930, Benoy
Bose, Badal Gupta and Dinesh Gupta dressed as Europeans entered the Writers building in Calcutta and shot dead Simpson, the Inspector General of prisons and injured other officials. Dinesh was hanged and other two killed themselves.
