The
holy Ganga and Yamuna rivers, the Indus and its tributaries - the
Chenab, Beas and Satluj, the Zanskar, the Sharda and the Teesta - all
rivers of adventure, each an exciting experience for the river
rafter.
Sir
Edmund Hillary with his "Ocean to Sky Expedition" from the
Indian Ocean near Calcutta to the Ganga at its source gave his stamp
of approval.
For
all thrill seekers, white water rafting is a popular sport on the
Ganges. Rafting down the Ganga from Shivpuri take about three to
five hours.
The
Satluj and the Beas in Himachal Pradesh offer an exciting challenge
to adventurous amateurs, while the Teesta in Sikkim challenges the
really experienced. The Indus in Ladakh offers the amateur a
strikingly different experience.
