Surajkund
The internationally
famous Surajkund Crafts Mela is held every year in the month of
February, to promote Indian arts and handicrafts at Surajkund, only
10 kms from Delhi.
Dumdama
Is basically a lake
surrounded by the enchanting Aravali Ranges and is popular for rock
climbing, paragliding and ballooning. Motorable from Delhi.
Sultanpur
Sultanpur was declared a
waterbird reserve in 1972. The grounds are lush with lawns, trees
and shrubs and masses of bougainvillaea. Sultanpur is a good place
for birdwatching. Motorable from Delhi (46 kms).
Kurukshetra
About 154 kms. from
Delhi is Kurukshetra, the place where the famous battle of the epic,
Mahabharata was fought. It was here that the message of the Gita,
the doctrine of Hindus, was given by Lord Krishna to doubt ridden
Arjuna on the battlefield. The Kurukshetra tank attracts millions of
pilgrims during eclipses, when the water is believed to be
especially purifying.
