Shimla
The state capital, and
the erstwhile summer capital of the British, Shimla is a charming
hill station.
How
to reach: Linked by air to
Delhi, Chandigarh, Kangra and Kullu. Airport is at Jubbarhati (23
kms). Shimla is linked by a narrow gauge line to Kalka which is
connected to Delhi, Calcutta and Amritsar by broad gauge.
Kalka-Shimla is 96 kms
only 4 hours by a quaint rail car. It is linked by bus and coach to
Delhi and Chandigarh (Punjab and Haryana) as well. Delhi is 370 kms,
Chandigarh 117 kms, Kalka 96 kms and Ambala 166 kms.
