Kolhapur

Held in high esteem for it's sacred shrine of Mahalaxmi. Kolhapur is often referred to as "Dakshin Kashi" or Kashi of the South.

How to reach: Kolhapur is connected by air with Mumbai and is a railhead on the Pune-Miraj-Kolhapur section of the South Central Railway It is situated on the Pune - Bangalore Highway and is well connected by a network of roads. It is 395 kms from Mumbai, 225 kms from Pune and 128 kms from Ratnagiri.

Excursions: Panhala, Battis Shirala, Radhanagri Wildlife Sanctuary, Dajipur Sanctuary, Amboli, Vishalgarh Fort.
