Duty-Free Items

Items allowed free of duty include:

  • Personal effects like clothing and other articles, new or used, which you may reasonably require, excluding merchandise for commercial purposes. Personal effects which are not consumed during your stay must be taken back when you leave the country.

  • A tourist of foreign origin visiting India can bring articles up to a value of Rs. 4,000/ - (Rs. 12,000/- for tourists of Indian origin) free of duty, which are intended as gifts, or even for his personal use.

  • Cigarettes, Cigars, Tobacco and Alcoholic Beverages are allowed duty free within the regulation limits of :

  • 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars or 250 gm. of tobacco.

  • Alcoholic liquor and wines upto 1 litre each,
