Varadarajaswamy Temple, Kancheepuram Varadarajaswamy Temple, also
known as the Devarajaswamy Temple. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, it has
spacious courtyards and a splendid seven-storied gopuram. The
detailed and exquisite sculptures, the pillared hall and the

Rajasimha, the Pallava
emperor in the late 7th century built the beautiful Kailasanathar
Temple honouring Lord Shiva. Lacking additions from the Chola

style of the early Dravidian architecture. The narrow passages
connecting the courtyards have fine murals and sculptures.
