Introduction

Situated on the south eastern side of the Indian peninsula, Tamil Nadu is a land steeped in tradition. Ancient culture and heritage come alive in true form here. It Is a traditional state known for its dance and music.

The temples at Madurai, Thanjavur and Rameswaram and also at the country’s southern tip Kanyakumari, where the three seas meet, are unique and famous.

Tamil Nadu Is also known for its fabulous bird sanctuary of Vedanthangal; the Pallava cave temples, the hill resorts of Yercaud, Coonoor and Kotagiri; the Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary in the Nilgiris; the spectacular jellikattu – the Iocal bull fight; the car pageants of Srirangam, Thiruvarur and Kanchipuram; the floating festival at Madurai, Triplicane and Mylapore in Chebbai; the celebrations of Pongal and Navaratri festival.
