Introduction
Fifty-one km east of Darjeeling and at an altitude of 1250 metres lies Kalimpong, the formerheadquarters of the Bhutanese Governor. It is situated amidst gently rolling "hills of Deolo and Durbindra", at the foot of the mighty Himalayas.
The journey from, Darjeeling to Kalimpong takes you through rich forests and rolling tea gardens. It affords some of the finest views of the valley, which is the confluence of the Rangeet & Teesta rivers and the mighty Himalayan range.

Dr. Graham's Home
3 km A school was established here by Dr. John Anderson Graham in 1900 for destitute children of European descent.
Durpin Dara
A vantage point in Kalimpong, which provides a breath-taking view of snow - clad peaks and the entire range of mountains of the Kanchenjunga.
Flower Nurseries
With its ideal climate, Kalimpong is famous for its nurseries, which house an incredible variety of flowers. Among the most important nurseries are Sri Ganesh Moni Pradhan Nursery, Standard Nursery, Shri L B Pradhan Nursery, Twin Brother Nursery and Flowerwood Nursery.

Guripur House
2 km. On way to Durpin Dara. It was a favorite resort of the Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. While residing in this house, the poet composed many famous poems.

4 km. Just above Central Sericulture Station, the Swiss Welfare Dairy is a small co-operative dairy.
Tibetan Monastery
The Tharpa Choaling Monastery at Tirpal Hill, en route to Dr. Graham's home, belongs to the Yellow - hat sect of lamas to which the present Dalai Lama belongs.

Lepcha/Bhutia New Year's Day: January
Celebrated in the first week of January during Makar Sankranti when colourful fairs are held along the Teesta River.
Tibetan New Year's Day: February
Colourful folk-dances are held at the monasteries and at the main market places on this day.
Durga Puja/Dussehra: September/ October
Goddess Durga is worshipped and her images are immersed in the river after taking them in colourful processions.
