Arjuna
The brave hero of Mahabharata, third of the five Pandava brothers, unmatched weilder of bow and arrow ( an archer ), known by such names - in addition to Arjuna - as Partha, Savyasaci and Dhananjaya, a dear disciple of Dronacarya, one who won the hand of Draupadi by showing his dexterity in the use of weapons at her Swayamvara ( a function organised for choosing a husband ), one who had an all-round victory in the northern parts of India, father of the brave Abhimanyu, the backbone of the Pandava-side in the Mahabharata war Arjuna, just before the start of the war, was overtaken by grief seeing the situation of the sure destruction of the near and dear ones on both sides and felt a repugnance towards fighting. Bhagavan Krishna, Arjuna's close friend, relative, and guide, who had actually undertaken to act as his charioteer in the war brought him out of bewilderment by delivering to him the sermon of Bhagavad-Gita and thus made him fight, taking it as his duty, in every possible way. The life of Arjuna sets an example of total dedication to Bhagavan Krishna.
