Visnu Narayana Bhatakhande
In the present century ( Kaliyuga's 51st, or 20th century A.D.) Vishnu Narayan Bhatakhande has been one of the prominent intellectuals whose personal efforts helped the revival of the Indian Music. He by profession was a advocate. Born in Maharashtra he worked as a solicitor in Mumbai city. He had interest in music from his early age. Having learnt classical music from Muhammad Ali Khan of the Manranga Gharana ( school ) and other competent teachers he spent most of the time of his life in research work in music and in its propagation and popularisation. Laksya Manjari and Abhinava Raga Manjari are his valuable works on Indian classical music and Lucknow's Bhatakhande Sangeet Vidyapeeth stand as a living monument reminding us of his contribution to music.
