Jain Muni Mishrimalji
Jain Muni Mishrimalji was a great saint, profound thinker and a vigorous preacher. By his fluent discourses in Sanskrit, Prakrit, Hindi, Urdu and Rajasthani languages and about 180 philosophical-literary compositions, he propagated the powerful and profound message of Jainism. He also impressed upon people the importance of social service and public welfare. There are lakhs of people all over the country belonging to different castes who are disciples of Mishrimalji better known as Marudhar Kesari.
Mishrimalji was born in Pali, Rajasthan on 18th August, 1891. His father, Sri Sheshamal Solanki, served the state of Bhadrajune. After the untimely death of his affectionate and religious mother, Kesar Bai, the mother of the royal family of Bhadrajune, Devariji brought him up. On 13th May, 1918, when he was still a youth, he initiated himself as a Shraman in the Jain Shwetambar (Sthanakvasi) monk tradition in Sozat, Rajasthan.Mishrimalji was an extempore poet and vigorous orator as well. He composed over five thousand pages of prose and poetry.This includes his two epics-'Ram Yashorasayan', (based on thestory of Ram) and 'Pandava Yashorasayan' (based on the Mahabharat).Most of his composition are compiled in two volumes of 'Marudhar Kesari Granthavali'.
On 25th October, 1936, on the occasion of Lokshah Jayanti, thousands of his followers hailing from all regions of the country congregated in village Tantoti (Rajasthan) and adorned him with the title of 'Marudhar Kesari'. On 30th April, 1938, the title of`Prawartak' was bestowed upon him.On 16thAugust 1970 he was again honoured with the title of 'Shraman Surya.' Mishrimalji fought against socio-religious superstitions and evil practices prevalent in Indian society and led the social reformation movement throughout his life.
On 17th Jan., 1984 Mishrimalji attained salvation in Jaitaran (Rajasthan). The Samadhi of Mishrimalji 'Marudhar Kesari Pavandham', Jaiotaran (Rajasthan) has become a sacred place of pilgrimage. Thousands of devotees from different parts of the world throng here to pay their homage to Jain Muni Mishrimalji and resolve to imbibe his ideas.
