Introduction

Hills and valleys with crisp, clean air, snow clad peaks, sparkling rivers and a landscape abounding in nature's bounty characterise this state.

Himachal is a tourism friendly state where the simplicity of rural living is visible alongwith specially developed infrastructure for tourists. Colourful fairs are held all over Himachal to celebrate the festival of Dussehra.

The hills of Himachal Pradesh contain the ancient trade routes to Tibet and Central Asia and have contributed to the spread of Buddhism in those regions. Even today, the influence of Buddhism is evident in specific areas of the state.

Himachal Pradesh offers an option of holidays ranging from a peaceful break in its quiet valleys to opportunities for trekking, mountaineering, white water rafting and angling for the adventurous. Freeindia > Tourism > India - Destination Of The New Millennium > The North > Himachal Pradesh
