Introduction
A coastal state, Orissa has some religiously significant monuments along with miles of white sand beaches and a well-developed infrastructure for the traveller
The temple cities of Puri, Bhubaneswar and Konark are topmost in the itinerary of a visitor to Orissa. There are also natural waterfalls, the sculptural art of the rock caves, the Buddhist and Jain relics, hills, forests, wildlife and some lesser-known temples which offer a unique, unspoilt charm which is unparalleled.
There are various industrial belts as well as some mining areas. Orissa offers cotton and silk fabrics, seafood, silverware and wooden handicraft items.

Bhubaneswar
Bhubaneswar is known as the 'Temple Town' as it has some of the finest temples built in Orissan style, such as - Lingaraj, Rajarani, Mukteswar, Brahmeswar and Parasurameswar temples.
How To Reach : Fly to Bhubaneswar from Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Mumbai, Vishakapatnam or Hyderabad. Or catch a super-fast train from Calcutta, Madras, Hyderabad, Bombay, Delhi or Trivandrum. Inter- state and tourist bus services are also available.
Where To Stay : The Orissa Tourism Development Corporation hotel (OTDC), Panthanivas.
What To See : The Lingaraja temple, Mukteswara Temple, Raja Rani Temple, The Parasurameswara Temple, Savaranjaleswara temple.
Excursions : Dhauli (10 kms), Khanclagiri and Udaigiri (8 kms), Nandan Kanan (25 kms), Atri sulphur spring (42 kms), Yogini temple (115 kms).

Puri
Puri, situated on the eastern coast of Orissa, is a magnificent beach resort and is one of the four great Hindu pilgrim centres.
How To Reach : Puri has direct trains from Calcutta, New Delhi and Bhubaneswar (60 kms) and can be reached by road via Konark and the Marine Drive.
Where To Stay : OTDC hotels, Panthanivas, Panthabhawan (Mahodadhinivas).
What To See : Jagannath Temple, Gundicha Ghar, Indradyumna Tank, Sakshi Gopal and Atharnala Bridge.

Konark
How to reach: Well connected by motorable roads to Puri (35 kms), Bhubaneswar (65 kms) and other parts of the state. The nearest railheads are Bhubaneswar and Puri. The nearest Airport is at Bhubaneswar.
Where To Stay : Konark offers various government approved accommodations at Panthanivas, Inspection Bungalow, Yatri Nivas.
Excursions : Kuruma (8 kms), Chaurasi, Ramachandi (10 kms), Astranga (55 kms), Kakatapur (45 kms), Pipli.
What To See : Sun Temple, Nabagraha Temple, Archaeological Museum, Chandrabhaga Beach.

Cuttack
How to reach: Cuttack is 29 kms from Bhubaneswar, and has direct trains from Bhubaneswar, Puri, Calcutta, Delhi, Hyderabad and Madras. The National Highway No. 5 passes through the city.
