Introduction

Kerala is also known for boat rides along the backwaters of Kerala. Imposing 18th century architecture of the Padmanabhapuram Palace, the invigorating air of the hills of Ponmudi, Munnar and Peermade, the birthplace of great Sankaracharya at Kaladi and the Pazhasi Raja's fabulous fortress, the Perumanam Kotta.

Kochi
Kochi is a natural harbour and one of India's oldest ports and major naval base. It is a city dotted with Portuguese churches, mosques, Hindu temples and Chinese Fishing Nets.
How to reach : Linked by air and rail to Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Goa and Bangalore. With the opening of New International Airport, there are flights to the Middle East also. It is also connected by road to various tourist centres in the south.
Where to stay : Fine hotels to suit all budgets.
What to see : Mattancherry Palace, Jewish Synagogue, St. Francis Church, Santa Cruz Cathedral, Bolghatty Palace, Chinese fishing nets, Hill Palace Museum.
Excursions : Kalady (48 kms), Athirampally (78 kms), Kumarakom (90 kms), Guruvayur (109 kms), Kottakal (168 kms), Munnar (135 kms), Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary (200 kms) and Kovalam (235 kms).

Thiruvananthapuram
Thiruvananthapuram, the capital of Kerala is an entry point to the state. Its major attraction is the famous Kovalam beach, one of the finest t in the country.
How to reach : Thiruvananthapuram is an international airport . Well connected to major Indian cities by air, rail and road. Some road distances are : Alleppey -155 kms, Calicut - 445 kms, Kochi - 219 kms, Periyar National Park - 271 kms, Trichur - 300 kms, Coimbatore - 410 kms, Kanniya Kumari - 87 kms, Chennai - 784 kms and Bangalore - 720 kms.

Alappuzha
Alappuzha is a network of canals, bridges and a long silver beach offering a memorable holiday. It is the heart of backwaters where many snakeboat racing events are held.
How to reach : Kochi (66 kms) is the major airport and railhead. Well linked by road to all towns in Kerala.
