Orchha

Orchha was founded in the 16th Century by the Bundela Chieftan, Rudha Pratap who chose this stretch of land along the river Betwa as an ideal place for his capital.

How to reach: Nearest airport is Gwalior (120 kms) and the railhead is Jhansi (19 kms). It is also connected by road with important cities and towns. Regular bus services connect Orchha and Jhansi.

Where to stay: Hotel Sheesh Mahal & Betwa Cottages of MPSTDC and Hotel Mansarovar, Hotel Palki Mahal, Sattar Yatri Niwas of SAIDA.

What to see: Jehangir Mahal, Rai Praveen Mahal, Raj Mahal, Chaturbhuj Temple, Chhatris, Laxminarayan Temple, Ram Raja Temple, Dinman Hardaul's Palace and Phool Baug.

Excursions: Deogarh (139 kms).
