VIDYARANYA

I Cannot Wait till My Next Birth

Bhuvaneshwari said, "Child, I know what you are longing for. From today you will be a master of all knowledge and its branches and you will be called Vidyaranya in future. You will remedy the deplorable condition of Karnataka. You will do well to the world. But..."

"Why mother? Do you doubt it?"

"Child, you cannot achieve it during this lifetime.,,

"Mother, I cannot wait till my next birth," pleaded Madhavacharya with the Goddess.

"In that case, you must renounce this world and become a monk," the Goddess said.

"Yes, I shall take the vow of a saint right now," said Madhavacharya.

Bhuvaneshwari smiled and said, "So be it. Your wish will be fulfilled" anddisappeared.
